Rio Sucuri

The tour begins with a pleasant hike through the riparian forest along a gentle trail that allows us to observe the diverse and resplendent flora and fauna of the riverside.  The route includes a visit to the headwaters of the Sucuri River.  During the approximately thirty minute trek we will have an amazing view of the crystal clear waters of the Sucuri River from a scenic overlook.

At the end of the trail the visitor will receive a mask, life jacket and snorkel followed by an orientation by the river guide, and a brief training session in the water.  After this, you will begin a 1900 meter descent propelled by the gentle currents of the Sucuri River.  You will be able to observe various species of fish known locally as piraputangas, curimbas, piaus, cascudos and dourados, as well as aquatic plants.  There are two exit rescue points along the route and the sweep boat which follows along after the last participant is always available for those who don´t wish to snorkel.  A vehicle is waiting at the end of the route to bring you back once again to the reception area, where you will have the options of horseback or bicycle riding.

Pantanal Expeditions offers day trips that combine Gruta de Lago Azul (the Blue Lagoon Cave) in the morning and the Rio Sucuri in the afternoon each Wednesday with common van service and  by private van service any day of the week.
