Pantanal of AbrobralThe pantanal of Abobral shares its border to the north with Nhecolândia; to the south with the regions of Miranda and Nabileque, and with the region of Aquidauana, and to the west with the Paraguay River. The Abobral is one of the lowest lying regions of the Pantanal and one of the first to flood, when as well as Nabilique when the rains arrive in October. The vegetation is savanna and Field, being very similar morphologically to that observed in the region of Aquadauana (or of Rio Negro). In the Abobral there are vast expanses of clear fields and small islands of sparse forests. As well there are areas of “campos sujos” interspersed with sparse woodlands. The clear fields are dominated by capim-mimoso (Axonomus purpusii) and by capim-mimoso-de-talo (Hermarthria altissima).
