Pantanal of Aquadauana
The Pantanal of Aquadauana is bordered to the north by the Pantanal of Nhecolândia; to the south, the city of Aquidauana; to the west, the Serra de Aquidauana; to the west, the regions of Miranda and Abobral.
The Pantanal of Aquidauana, is as is the case of Miranada is defined more as the high pantanal, being less affected by the floods than the other regions. The Pantanal of Aquidauana is strongly tied, floristicly to the Pantanals of Abobral and Nhecolândia, demonstrating the presence of ponds, salt flats and sandy soil, on which the pastures are established. The areas of mud are restricted to the area immediately along the watercourses. The vegetation in the zone of the Rio Negro is principally of field, savanna, and isolated woodlands similar to those in Nhecolândia. The clean fields, extensive in area, are populated by capim-mimoso (A. purpusii), capim-mimosinho (Rimarochloa spp.), Paspalum almun e Hermathria altissima.
In the savannas there is a large frequency of species such as piúva and cambará. The capim-mimoso creates clean fields, where it almost abslolutely dominant.
On the right shore of the Rio Negro, where Sandy soil predomonates, occuring there with abundance two invasive species, capim-carona, and Andropogon selloanus. The woody invasives of this side of the river, also with sandy soi include the canjiqueira and so called dirty fields. On the south bank of the Rio Negro, the soil tends to be silty clay. Forraging plants with a marked presence there which are not encountered on the North bank of the river are Paspalum almun and Panicum laxum.
