Pantanal of Cáceres

The Pantanal of Cáceres is bounded in the north by an imaginary line that crosses through the city of Cárceres itself; to the south, the Uberaba and Gaiba lakes and the zona do caracará until the Pantanal of Poconé at the confluence of the Cuiabá and Paraguay Rivers, the forests of the Bolivian border.

The vegetation of this pantanal is typical savanna and field, often compacted accentuated by an under-layer of savanna. Pockets of tropical rainforest appear here with more frequency heralding the proximity of the Amazon Region.  The soils of the Pantanal of Cáceres are composed of silt and sand, the last of which is the predominant type.  The scrub and tree species are the same as the other pantanal regions, which include Souari Nut, or Pequi, (Caryocar brasiliense), canjiqueira (Brysonima intermedia), pateiro (Couepia uiti), sucupira (Bowdichia virgilioides), among others.
